We had dinner at El Nido in Tesuque NM, it's right outside Santa Fe across from the Opera House. We both had steak, my son had the special which was a pepper steak sirlion that was suppose to have a mushroom sauce. It was completely rare and it was suppose to be done medium, when we finally got it, it didn't come with the sauce, and my son actually had to put pepper on it because it was so burnt on the outside we figured maybe the pepper was burnt on. I had the Prime Rib which was tastless and was undercooked. We both were very disappointed, even the rice and vegetables that came with the meal were tasteless. I would not recommend this restuarant. I don't know how their other dishes are but the meat was terrible. I have had better prime rib, for less the cost at other restuarants in CA, TX, NM. It was terrible. We usually grade our restuarants El Nido has turned into "El NO"!!!! It gets a grade of D
Each visit to El Nido gets better.: I frequent El Nido just about on a monthly basis. As a local resident, it's my favorite spot to entertain my out of town guests and family. Not to mention the pleasure it brings me and my lady friend(s) by being so convenient to my home.
Not once have I experienced a bad or even average type meal.
The food is outstanding, regardless of your preference for excellent cuisine.
As a native New Yorker, you can be sure that I'm not 'shooting from the hip',
when I say that El Nido is second to none. Save the Santa Fe restaurants for the tourists, at least most of them.
great steak and lobster: My wife and I had a romantic anniversary dinner at our favorite local restaurant. Since we frequent El Nido the wait staff knows us and we were pampered a little extra because of our special evening more than usual. The lobster tails were fantastic, sweet and tender, it was difficult to persuade my wife to give me a bite. I had the aged New York strip steak, cooked to a perfect hot red center, (they call it medium, I call it YUMMY). The vegetables were firm, french fries crispy, and the baked potato hot. Life is good when everything is done correctly yet not overdone. The waiter, also the manager, presented us with a complementary bottle of Pinot Noir for the occasion. Salads accompany all the entrees so we did not partake of an appetizer even though they are wonderful, (we've eaten many on past visits). We did want to save ourselves for the warm Cherry Cobbler with vanilla ice cream. We will always return with guests or just the two of us .
