    My husband and I go to Ristra every year when we are in Santa Fe, and have ALWAYS had great food. The elk is as good as Geronimo's, which is outstanding.

    Just finished a horrible meal. Dry quail appetizer. Overcooked duck breast swimming in a pool of raspberry sauce. The accompanying vegetables were overcooked and poorly matched to the dish. My companion had a nice loin of elk, but once again the snap peas were overcooked, and the sweet potato mash was like glue. Our dessert was an almond apple cake with caramel sauce. Very, very bland. The caramel was bitter and surprisingly lacked flavor other than bitter. The staff seemed disinterested, and the it was extremely loud, even though not very crowded. The acoustics were so poor, it made the dining room seem very loud.
