excellent menu and great food, real southwest flavor.
went here with friends, plenty of seating, parking and atmosphere is genuinely cool.
before you go...check out the opera house.
A dinner back in time: The Buckhorn saloon and opera house is a trip back in time of Cowboys Indians and real gun fights. It is located in the center of Pinos Altos a short drive from Silver City. It is the original restauraunt, saloon and opera house with the walls still bearing bullet holes from a gunfight between Billy the Kid and banditos. The bar is still reminisant of the old era with the original back bar and decorations from the time it was built. There is an old indian figure that sits at the far end corner and I myself have watched people try to talk with it. Although not a real life person the reality it exudes is amazing!! Many are fooled!!....The restauraunt itself holds bullet holes as well as the entrance to the opera house where many a show are put on still to this day. Many famous theatrical personas entertained there and it holds its original decor as well. The food is outstanding from fresh baked bread loaves all you can eat to delicatable Austrailian Lobster Tail. The steaks are cooked to your taste and are tender and juicy. The old world atmosphere is accented by the wonderful staff that serve you in a timely manner and with smiles and manners.
Reservations are recommened especially on holidays or special occasions however I have never found the wait a long one should we decided to eat instead of just having drinks. The price is fair considering the amount and value of the food you receive as well as the ambiance in which it is served. Drinks, dinner and a show and your night is complete with the scrumtious desert to follow. They open in the afternoon and close around 11ish at night. I recommend not only the Buckhorn but the drive as well for it is a trip back in time most worthy .
