I think the room was REALLY AWESOME!!!! We had a suite that we got from priceline.com and it was for $100 which I am sure the suite is worth more than that by the looks of it. The service was great and the food was even better there not much for kids to do except for the Lion Habitat which every time I go the lions are asleep, I think they tranquelize those liions to make them sleep during the day and play at night. there were t.v.'s in every room from the livingroom to the bathrooms, everywhere i went I could watch the football game, even on the toilet moaning, groaning and grunting but not missing one second of the game, I thought this hotel was incredible and the staff were at there very best. I would DEFINITELY stay here again.
The King Deluxe rooms in the West Wing do not look as great as the picture on the MGM website. Our room was off a REALLY dark hallway painted battleship gray. The room was the tiniest I've ever stayed in. When you open your door, you are literally standing in your bathroom on the tile. In our first 24 hours, we had to call maintenance FOUR times. The last three calls were about the smoke alarm which kept malfunctioning during SLEEP time! Every time we called maintenance, it was a 2 hour wait for someone to arrive. I personally liked the room even given the weird bathroom entrance. It was just disappointing after seeing the rest of the hotel and peering into the other rooms on the way to ours. We initially thought we were in a renovated area of the hotel, but it was just the older section. If I had to do the trip over, I would definitely Upgrade to the Tower. Note that the King Deluxe has no coffeemaker and no refrigerator. There is an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer.
The lion exhibit is really neat and we spent plenty of time watching the cats play with the trainers. CBS City is a cool, FREE, activity. If you need to eat cheaper than the very expensive restaurants inside MGM, there is a large shopping complex near the rear of the hotel. It has a food court with typical fast food chains. The food court IN the MGM is very limited and pricey.
If you're on a serious budget and want to do Vegas, our package deal through Travelocity was a really good price. However, I would make it a point to eat elsewhere and would just make the room my landing point. Oh, and don't forget to purchase a monorail pass!
I recently stayed at the MGM on a Free offer i got and i was very impressed I was in town for the IGA (Independent Glass Association) confrence on behalf of fixmywindshield.com and I loved the room, the casino treated me well. It was convienent to the monorail. and the only complaint i have is that the hookers standing at the elevator did not have change for the soda machine!! ;)
