My wife and I just returned to Las Vegas after several years away having lived here on and off for about 20, and while some things may have changed in LV, this place Callaways is BEYOND FANTASTIC and the Top of the TOP!
I used to drive balls with my dad when I was a kid, and at now at 48 I've decided that I want to really learn the game as a way of exercise and a day out from the usual fare presented in the city. A little up there in years to learn but never too late. Of course, there's a lot to know, obviously, but these guys make it easy. We arrived with no clubs or equipment, quickly went into the St. Andrew's Golf Store, took a look around and bought gloves. The store has everything! (Except that I would have liked to see some DVD's to help teach beginners) Now remember that this is Callaways, so expect everything to be pretty top notch and in may cases expensive, but that did not diminish our experience at all, even though we were beginners. However there are clubs here in the high 3 figures to low 4 figure range, but like I said TOP NOTCH.
Then we went to the driving range desk and were pleasantly surprised that for just $11 you could get 180 balls...a nice couple of hours of practice (and more for us). Smaller amounts were also available, so we got 90 balls for 6 bucks, and split it between the two of us. I asked if they had clubs we could borrow and it was explained that we could get a demo at St. Andrew's, so back we went and after handing over my driver's license and credit card for them to hold (not charge), I was greeted by a professional and asked what I wanted to "demo". I chose a 10 Driver and my wife, I believe, went with a 5. We then explained that we were beginner's and were shown every courtesy.
About 30 minutes later and 45 balls each, (plus showing my wife a basic swing) we returned the clubs (would have stayed later but it was late in the day and the store closes at 6 even though the range is open until 9 or so) thoroughly content with our experience.
As a side note, I also noticed that Professional rates for instructors were fairly reasonable for an upscale establishment, and an entire day which included 3 and a 1/2 hours personal instruction plus 9 holes of golf was just $395 and you could add another person for $200 more (limit 3 people). If that's too high, there are rates for an hour down to 15 minutes-$90-$30 respectively.
I didn't get the chance to eat at the restaurant or try out the bar, but it was upscale, clean, looked to have good service and the price was right, a burger combo special at $5.99.
I truly look forward to returning here about once a week. Since experiencing Callaways, I've viewed a few golf DVD's and bought two clubs, just drivers for my wife and I, not the best but enough to get us out there to hit balls.
Personally, I want to thank Callaway Golf Center and all of the people working there for making a first experience completely enjoyable and comfortable. My Scottish cap is off to you.
Great driving range, but the restaurant sucks!
I was there to hit a bucket of balls today and then decided to grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. I sat at a table and then waited 15 minutes before I finally got up and walked out. There were 3 other parties that walked in after me and they were promptly served, but no one walked over to ask if I even wanted something to drink. In the meantime, the waitresses were all talking and laughing with each other at the bar. I finally got up and asked the bartender if there was a waitress for my table. She then said " Oh, did you want a menu?" I thought to myself " Duh! Why do you think I walked in and sat at a table for?". I told her I had changed mind and walked out.
Food for thought: Everyone in the restaurant was white (employees and customers), and I am a minority. I have lived in Las Vegas for ten years and this is the first time I have ever experienced any perceived thought of racism since I've lived here.
This course is great!: Callaway is truely an oasis in the middle of the desert. This is a great 9-hole par 3 course that is fun and challenging. The course is beautiful. The driving range is excellent. They even have an attendant clean your clubs when you're done. I love playing this course!

I have been in the restaurant as well and the service is horrible. It could possibly be just a lack of customer service training and manager follow-up on the service expectations or it could be that your money was the wrong "color". Either way...perception is reality and it sounds like Calloway needs to step it up on their customer service. :(
I've been the restaurant business for years and your review SUCKS! Sometimes servers make mistakes and miss a table, we're all human. And yes, I've been there, service and food was excellent. As far as the racism issue all you people think the same, NOT EVERYONE'S OUT TO GET YOU!!!
