Our favorite restaurant by far. The atmosphere is great & the service & food even better. Try the calamari steak, unbelievable! We'll be there this Thursday night to celebrate our anniversary.
This delightful restaurant is a well-kept secret, and definitely worth the drive!! Recently recommended to us by friends, we were at first sceptical. Especially given it's out-of-the-way, middle-of-no-where location. We made our first visit (July 13, 2009) while on vacation in Lake Tahoe. (A doable drive if you are at Incline or North Shore, and want to combine a terrific dinner with errand-running/shopping in Carson City, NV.)
The old-fashioned ambiance is charming, the service impeccable, and the food delicious! My husband had the steak and said it was (by far) his best in years. I can say the same for my chicken piccata. Entrees include (at no extra charge!) homemade bread, soup AND salad, seasonal vegetables and pototoes or rice. Everything was fresh, yummy, and clearly "homemade!" We found the prices to be most reasonable. Given we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have no shortage of fine restaurants. This one holds its own with ANY of them, and in many cases has much friendlier service! "Don," our waiter, was attentive and friendly, without being invasive. We had a quiet table and even enjoyed the CD playing. We opted to take our dessert "to go," and savored the chocolate cake before bed. On our way out, we stopped at the bar to chat with delightful co-owner Bonnie, who was warm and gracious. Bottom line, if you're in the area...GO! Treat yourself. This place is a real find!
My family and I were on our way to Tahoe. When I stopped to get fuel, I asked the lady where my family and I could dine. She mentioned Gold Canyon Steakhouse. Upon entering this place, I was in awe over it's beauty. While waiting to be seated, the bartender, Rob, offered my 2 children a drink called Roy Rogers which is a Cherry Coke. That impressed me and my wife. We were seated and served by the owner Bonnie. She was so nice and helpful in choosing what to eat. The entire experience was very delightful. We will be back again. If you are anywhere close to Dayton Nevada, you should do the same. Thank you Bonnie, Joe and Rob for a pleasurable dining experience.
