| About: | This restaurant has won the "Best Place to take a Date", "Best Place to Eat a Steak" and "Best Place to Eat Dinner" awards in the Reno-Gazette Journal poll. The ambiance is one of a cozy French country farmhouse with pink tablecloths and lace curtains. Taste the Filet Mignon Biere Echalotte, tenderloin of beef in a shallot-beer sauce; c'est magnifique . If you prefer lighter fare, try the Coq au Vin, braised chicken in red wine with veggies and onions. A moderately priced wine selection and a full service bar are available. La Ferme is open from Tuesday to Sunday at 5pm. |

Bad points. Limited menu, long wait to get it with reservations. Decor, um, well, chickens. I felt the service could have been more attentive. Wine is kinda pricey.
Good points. What's on the menu is very very good and presented professionally and elegantly. There is only one seating, so you're free to enjoy your meal slowly and not worry about being rushed out the door so they can ready the table for someone else. This is nicer than you might imagine. The owner has a great sense of humor but he's serious about food. He is not shy about making suggestions about what he thinks you might like and his suggestions were spot on. He mentioned that the menu changes so you'll need to go back and see what's different next time. Everyone at the table was 101% pleased with their food, which is a rarity. This is French Country Cuisine, much simpler than "Fancy French Food" you may be thinking of. You can see where "California" cuisine gets much of it influence.
Great restaurant-- in comparison to what's available in Gardnerville and Carson City, it's the most fabulous restaurant in the history of the world.
this resturaunt is amazing. if you are ever in tahoe, it is worth the trip to genoa (about 25 minutes for the major casinos at the south end of the lake) to sample this food. the resturaunt is small, so i would recommend reservations. my wife and i have eaten here many times. i recommend the foie gras--it is the best we've ever tasted. literally everything we've had has been fantastic.
You are treated like a rock star: An overall excellent expierience with wonderful food and service that makes you feel like you are the most important person in the place.
