Real Italian, Real Good!: This hidden gemstone in the SE of Reno is quite surprising. From outside it looks like a small fast-food place, and almost seemed like a pizza parlor if you didn't know better, but once inside, it's a very cozy and atmospheric Italian diner. They have weekly specials, and they are the only place I've been to that the specials truly sound special and unique. Susan Sardina, owner and main cook, truly takes pride in her work, and it shows! She's even come out to ask us how the food was, and on Valentine's Day, brought my date a rose and thanked us for choosing to eat there. Better Italian food than Olive Garden, cozier and less crowded and loud than Macaroni Grill, and cheaper than all of the casino italian restaurants that come close to the same quality. It's now called Sardina's, which has helped clear up the pizza-parlor image, but the food remains undeniably the same. If you're in the Reno area and crave great Italian food without the throngs of yuppies
