Wow. I went car shopping this weekend and I nearly got tricked by these guys. Not only did they "lose" our keys on our trade-in, they denied me rebates at the last minute by telling me I didn't qualify! Example: I didn't qualify because I wasn't a student, but no one ever asked me if I were! I made this review because of an article on todays 'Yahoo autos' that covered these very topics. Buyer beware with this business for sure. What's also bothersome, they still have a "market price mark up" - in this economy that seems inappropriate to me.
I started going to Capital Ford for regular oil change and checkup service on my car last year. I enjoyed their friendly attitude and average/good service, which was a huge step up from Jones West Ford in Reno. The service wasn't 'great' (they never did anything extra) but it wasn't 'poor' either.
They never did anything serious enough to cause me to go elsewhere, but there were little things here and there, such as recommending unnecessary maintenance. My dad was a Ford Service Manager at a dealer for many years...so I know what is necessary and what is not. Nothing was ever that big of a deal until yesterday when they blatantly tried to get me to do unnecessary work and then later they tried to sell me unnecessary parts.
That got me very angry and I picked up the car as-is. I decided then, I will do the work myself and never return. I still rated them 'two stars' because of the service I've received over the last year was decent...but they never will get to work on my car again. Apparently I'm running out of Ford Dealers in this area.
If I could, I'd use the Ford Dealer in Yuba City, CA...I went in there one time for warranty work on my way through that area (I didn't pay anything) and they got me in right away, did the work quickly and even ran my car through the wash rack...all with a smile.
