I've been going to Mario for years, and yes he is honest and a good mechanic. But he only wants to do big jobs that will cost a lot, so don't bother him with little things. I was finally soured when my leaf springs started to sag, I asked him if he would replace them and he said yes no problem. He told me to buy the parts and all would be good. So I buy the Leaf Springs and the U-bolts, well they got my appointment wrong twice! They never even wrote me down in the books so when I came to have them replaced they seemed irritated and reluctent to put them on. They finally said okay and I went home to wait. So right before they close he calls and says "oh, we can't put these on it's beyond our skill and they are too rusty". I was a little upset since I wasted the whole day and bought these parts for him. The next morning I take it into another shop and they put them on no problem ( I was very relieved since most mechanics won't install a part they didn't purchase). They're just lazy and it wasn't a big enough job for them so they just looked the other way. I used to love this place but they would rather say nothing is wrong or we can't do it go to someone else. :( I'm very dissapointed.
Dropped my 1996 Geo Tracker off at Mario's on a Thurs at noon with a list of items to service: AC, replace automatic trans fluid, tune-up, check brakes, check timing belt, check all other systems. Mario called my cell phone and left a message around 1:00 pm the following day that the car was ready to be picked up.
As I was paying for the service, Mario informed me that the timing belt was in good shape and did not need to be replaced. The brakes were also in good shape. The A/C was in good shape, but a relief valve was leaking and had to be replaced (no charge for the valve and not listed on the receipt).
Mario's honesty and business integrity are second to none (and turn-around time is amazingly fast). Bottom line: excellent service at a fair price. I will not take my vehicle(s) anywhere but Mario's.
I moved to Carson about 10 years ago and a neighbor recommended Mario's. It really is the best garage in town. He's honest. He backs up his work and though I've moved out of town to Washoe Valley, I still take my car to him. We've even gone so far as to upgrade our AAA membership, so that we can take our cars to him because we trust him implicitly.
As an example of what an awesome garage this gentleman runs, he did a tune up on my husband's car and when the spark plug cracked within a couple weeks, we took it back to him and he replaced it no questions asked. It sure wasn't his fault that the plug cracked, but that's the kind of back up you can expect from Mario.
He's also very good at running down the source of the problem versus the symptom, which means whatever is wrong is fixed and doesn't come back. I got stuck with AAA taking my car to a garage closer to home, got charged $120 and the car ran for a month and has the same problem again and is dead in the driveway. I'm taking it to Mario's tomorrow.
There aren't enough compliments you can shower on this gentleman and his garage because whatever you came up with would fall short of the kind of loyalty this business inspires.
