| About: | Like the Pantages , this theater was opened as a movie palace in the early years of Hollywood, but has since been transformed to accommodate live performances. Restored in 1985, its art deco design, including a sunburst canopy, which adorns the main entrance, is indicative of the era. In recent years it has become one of the most popular venues for major touring acts. |

About a year ago, I came to this venue to see a Bodom show. I have to tell you, this venue blew me away. I had never seen a venue layout like it before, pure excellency. No matter where you were positioned in the venue, you were sure to have a great view of the stage. It's a small venue - very beautiful I might add - that provides a close atmosphere (especially to your favorite artists).
I am for sure coming here again!
Nice Memories: I lived in LA in the early 1970s I went to the Wiltern often with my friends we would go around back thur the stage entrance and sneak in to watch the X rated movies Fritz the cat and others, saturday they would feature old horror movies with some strange guy in a cape to narrate the show. I'd heard the neiborhood had changed alot over the years, I lived on Wilton and 9th with my sister and brother inlaw, I attended (John Burrows Jr. High) .So many memories.
a look back: i used to live in the neighborhood when i was a child. back in 1955 me and my buddies used to ride our bikes to the wiltern on saturday afternoon full of excitement. we usually went into the rexall drugstore next door to get our candy. hersheys jujyfruit and licorice were 5 cents. in the theatre they would rip you off for 10 cents for the same thing. it cost a quarter to get in and there was usually a double feature. it was huge and beautiful and we usually sat on the main level 5 or ten rows from the gigantic screen. if you went into the multi tiered balcony you could get a nose bleed. gunfight at the ok corral with kirk douglas and burt lancaster. the ten commandments, the alamo with john wayne and richard widmark. it was fantastic.
