This was a perfect spot for a first date. The Restaurant at The Standard was a ménage a trios of sexy, chic and yellow. Wines by the glass in categories like soft, luscious and juicy set the tone for quite a nice evening. We both ordered from the Dine La menu. A three course dinner for the price of an entrée at similar venues. I chose the NY dry aged steak for my second course . It was perfectly cooked and you could cut it with a butter knife. The caramel poire ( pear) dessert was amazing! The service staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their product . We booked a room shortly after dinner ;) !!
Wouldn't recommend: I you like over-priced drinks and average at best service, then check it out. It's fun to visit occasionally with friends that have never been there, just for the view, but I don't go otherwise.
Ate at the restaurant in the lobby of the hotel and my friend got a nice green sandwich, green as in meat with mold on it. Yummy! All for $14. What a bargain. I wouldn't eat there again.
Design: Great. Food: Mediocre: As expected with all things at The Standard, The Restaurant followed suit with great design. The yellow hues were surprisingly not as annoying as I expected it to be. But also associated with all things at The Standard, past the design, there was much to be desired.
The food is mediocre at best. The chef's attempts at "creative" food comes off more amateur than anything else.
The service was fine -- nothing to complain or rave about.
At the end of the day, it's a great place to take people who are new to the area, and of course, it's worth at least one try. But don't expect to find your new favorite restaurant. This won't be it.
P.S. -- If you don't live downtown, parking can be a pain as it starts at around $10 for all surrounding areas.
