Stayed here because I was at a conference at another downtown hotel. Got a great rate from expedia, I think. Was treated very well by staff. Couple of snafus--the valet guys locked my keys in the rental car and that took a while to fix (front desk repeatedly assured me it would be fine and they called me as soon as it was resolved); door key wouldn't work (went back downstairs and a manager accompanied me and helped me out). Be aware that if you want to walk around that area that the freeway makes it impossible to just get directly where you want to go (or are told to go by mapquest). The room service was the best I have had--huge portions! A bit pricey, but then, it is LA. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. I did not encounter any rude staff and, in fact, all the staff seemed to go above and beyond what they needed to do. Breakfast buffet was yummy as well. Valet staff particularly attentive and friendly. Doors opened every time you would leave or enter. Seemed genuinely appreciative of tip for valet service. Never felt pressured to give tip. Highly recommend if you are staying in downtown LA. I did get a little lost on the way there--my phone GPS let me down and I was in the wrong lane. It can be a little confusing at first if you don't know the area.
Probably the Best Hotel in Downtown: Most people would head over to the Biltmore, Boneventure or the Marriott because they have more name recognition. However, I think that the Omni is MUCH, MUCH BETTER! The hotel is much newer and the service is great. I love Noe Resturant on the 3rd floor. You must go... even if you're not staying at the hotel.
Good location: Downtown near the Hotel is dead on the weekends, but close enough to the shopping districts to walk. Don't pay for the valet parking. You can pay $5 per weekend at any of the lots within a walk. Close to the Disney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Angels Flight(closed for renovation)
