Shabu Shabu House Restaurant
(213) 680-3890
127 Japanese Village Plaza Mall, Los Angeles, CA90012Get directionsCross Streets: Near the intersection of Japanese Village Plaza Mall and E 1st St
Shabu Shabu House Restaurant appeals to trendy young people eager to try new dining adventures, as well as older people who have been coming here for years. The room is contemporary and patrons sit at a round bar with high stools. The only requirement for dining at this venue is that you must be very adept at handling chopsticks - you will need to use them to swish your plate of raw veggies, noodles and beef in boiling broth until they're cooked. That's right, you are cooking your own meal, and once it's done, you are ready.
I've traveled in Japan, eaten at more Japanese restaurants than you can imagine in Los Angeles.... this is a good value in that it has high quality beef (texture and flavor) with efficient and polite service.
Atmosphere is another matter but if you've spent time in Japan, some of the most famous spots (quality & reputation) look like this place.
totally worth the wait.
this place is known for their sauce, not their meat. the meat is of course mediocre, hence the price is the CHEAPEST compare to other shabu shabu house. who doesn't know that? but it's the overall taste that makes this the best shabu shabu house.
i've been to three other shabu houses. 1 is just across the street from this one, 1 was in hollywood, by century club, and the other, in gardena where there is a large japanese population. i only go back to this place. i got my husband and friends hooked, too. we are asians with expensive taste, yet we go for this cheap shabu shabu house. we love it here. so cheap and tasty.
