| About: | CBS Seafood may be a quaint joint, but its offering is no less than any Chinatown establishment. With great value for money, the food is fresh and arrives piping hot. The draw is definitely the dim sum, but other items on the menu deserve credit too. CBS has good service, and is child-friendly. Free parking is available at the side of the restaurant. |

CBS Seafood is great starting with the free parking. Even the parking lot attendants have always been cheerful and happy. I have never had a bad meal at CBS and I have been coming here for years. I first ate dim sum in Hong Kong decades ago and CBS recaptures both the ambiance and taste of my first time when I was just a kid. Unlike the so-called Empress, CBS' prices are always fair and the help are even-handed.
Dim Sum!!!: We've been coming here for dim sum since before it was called CBS (formerly Dragon Inn?). Whenever we want a special treat, we hop on the bus from the West Side to Union Station, and enjoy some dim sum at CBS!!
My boyfriend's family comes here every weekend for dim sum and dinner, and also for any special occasions. When I lived in Los Angeles last summer, I tagged along for these meals every weekend.
CBS has all your average "Americanized" Chinese dishes, as well as authentic Hong Kong cuisine. The prices are very reasonable, though not cheap. It's good to bring the entire family here; when you go to CBS on the weekends, you'll find tons of Chinese families (complete with aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc). Needless to say, it's not a very quiet place to eat during peak hours, with the Cantonese customers yelling across the room the entire time.
Some of the dishes that CBS does pretty well are the walnut shrimp and Peking duck. Their dim sum is also top notch. Don't try their fish maw soup - the only person I know who likes it is my boyfriend's mom.
The service is okay, but you probably get more out of it if you speak Cantonese. They also treat you pretty well if you're a regular (like my boyfriend's family). I think it's worth coming here if you're ever in Chinatown and can't think of anywhere else to eat.
