About:This maze-like Bavarian bar and restaurant is a find you'll not forget. How it got here is beside the point; it's practically become an historic treasure. Sample one of three great German beers; Becks, Warsteiner or Bitburger; and don't forget to try the amazing food. The Bratwurst, in particular, is worth a repeat visit. If you're meeting friends, make sure you know in which room to venture in to for it's quite likely for one to get lost here.

I love this place and these other comments are unfortunate. It depends on which level you sit and on which night you go in the level of service you'll get. Some bartenders are definitely better than others. I've been a patron for years and there is no other place like it in Los Angeles. It's a fun, quirky place and I've met some great people there. If you want to be coddled and have your butt kissed this is not the place to go, which I imagine these other reviewers are used to. Stay on the westside, spoiled babies and leave the "authentic" places alone. GREAT FOOD, GREAT BEER, STRONG COCKTAILS, SEXY BARSTAFF AND NICE FOLKS (not all), FUN ATMOSPHERE, GOOD TIMES!!!

HORRIBLE! We went for a birthday get together, when we arrived we were told they would not take our name nor let us know when a table was going to be avail. We basically had to wait for a group to vacate a table and pounce on it, now mind you there are 3 floors of places to sit so you either had to break up your group and have people watching every floor or you took your chances on picking a floor to wait on. We decided to order our food to go.....don't bother......go else where for better service and better food. This place is basically a dive-bar that serves luke warm-dried out food, and forget getting a mixed drink mine was nasty or anything other than a german beer.

The service is bad. But i must say the potato pancakes were the best!!!I love my Heffa's there. Yes the service is bitchy...But I have to admire the feel and look of the place. If your from Hollywood thEn this service isn't unusual. I will go back. I grow up on this beer. This is not a place tp have b-day get together OR order food to go. This is the place to get wasted after a dodger game...especially on openning day. You should go back alone or with one friend. Let how it goes...

did you try to make a reservation? It slays me when people go into a busy restaurant,(and I'm sure it was probably a Friday or Saturday night, am I right?), and expect to be immediately seated, esp. when it is a large party. The Red Lion has no hostesses or busboys. So, the girls and guys are expected to juggle many different tasks at once. Yes, there are certain bartenders and servers there who have an attitude but many feel that its just a German thing. I happen to have been waited on many times by quite a few amazingly cool people there. Sounds like you either went on the wrong night or are just one of those people who are never satisfied and probably should just stay home.
