About:This celebrity hangout has been visited by beautiful people for years and shows no signs of slowing down. If you don't have a reservation or a studio deal, however, don't even try it. The decor is simple and focuses your attention on the crowd and the menu, which are both out of this world. The crab cakes are a favorite, and the fried chicken is also excellent. If you can afford it, this is a great place to hobnob with the movers and shakers. If not, you can always order a drink at the bar. Be sure to make a reservation.

I loveeee this place. I'm from New York, so for my 19th birthday I decided to go to L.A. just a few weeks ago. To get the true LA/Beverly Hills experience I decided to hit up The Ivy in hopes of catching the sights of a celeb. After making my reservation, I read some of these reviews and was really expecting the worst. We arrived about a half hour early, and I was afraid if we asked to be seated early they'd be super snotty, but they weren't, Not only were they accomidating, but they sat us on the patio. (The seats I thought were only for celebs or people of high status) The seats on the patio are a little close together, so after a few minutes we asked for a new seat and they agreed happily. I was shocked. We moved to a different seat on the other side of the patio with more room. The menu is very expensive, but it was my birthday so I went all out. I ordered a fruit drink for 10 bucks, an order of crab cakes for 12 bucks and a huge bowl of spaghetti for 30 bucks. I didnt finish even half of my food. The waitor was so friendly and accomidating. The only complaint I have is we asked one of the bus boys if we could have change for a 20 and it was clear he couldnt really speak or understand English. He just said something like "I don't know" and ran off. Our main waitor though, was very nice. I don't know if it was because we spent a ton of money there or because me and my friend dressed up and looked like we had money, but I made sure I left a good tip. Like 20 bucks. A little crazy but you only live once. On our way out, they called us a cab and we waited outside the resturant with the resturant body guard and their valet man. While waiting for our cab the two talked about how Paris Hilton could be on her way and how they would leave the kitchen open for her. I looked at my friend with my mouth wide open haha. Only in LA right.

Well, had to see what all the hype was about...I was quite disappointed. I am in agreement with the previous review that the place is run down and overrated. For the prices, the food could have been much better. The enchiladas (chicken) were dry and not authentic at all (I am hispanic)...place is a bit run down and the service was OK. They made us feel as if we HAD to order or else leave. Overall, this place is highly over rated and I'll only be back if I read in these reviews that the food, ambiance and service has improved. I feel the place is only for celebrities who need to be seen to get work or work the cameras for their benefit; to the normal diner, we go there for the pleasure; this place needs improvement in that regard.

Restaurant looks worn. Very different than rustic. All the accolades on the walls are decades old. Service is very poor, almost reliant on years past of celebrity attendance. Not worth the time, money, or effort.
