| About: | Seafood is at its best here and the authentic flavors will make you feel you're in Japan. Takao serves the best Sashimi (raw fish and rice) and the Tartares are highly recommended. Non Sushi lovers should try the Chicken Teriyaki, Shrimp Bomb or potato croquettes. The decor is humble but don't get fooled as the menu is equally grand. The congenial and helpful staff will help you with your choices if you get a bit overwhelmed by the extensive list. |

This place is great!! They have amazing sushi and udon. My roommate and I go especially for the Baja roll mainly because its to DIE for! The service is great and there always friendly
Chef tends to lean on the salty side: A friend and I had the omakase there. Approximately 4-5 of the 7 dishes were pretty salty. The sushi is quite good (toro, spanish mackerel, uni w/ caviar). However, w/o the sushi, the food is just average. You can go there to do some people-watching as we saw quite a few celebrities sitting around us. A bit on the pricy side.
very nice sushi, a little spendy: i heard takao was run by a former chef from matsuisha, and it happens to be walking distance from my house, so i thought it was well worth checking out. my takeaway was a bit mixed. it was quite spendy, and while good, not really a transcendent sushi experience. some items were great--including the tataki salad which was a very generous helping of fish on a salad dressed with some of the best carrot ginger dressing i've ever tasted. the umeshiso roll was also outstanding. be sure and request fresh wasabi--it costs a couple of bucks extra, but is well worth it.
