I think that the first time visitor will be impressed and satisfied. Living in LA, you sometimes get jaded by the glitz and glamour. I've seen a few celebrities there from time to time but the real attraction for me is the food. They have outstanding Vientamese food! While overpriced, the food is very, very good. The decor is also quite imaginative - glass covered koi pond that you walk over as you enter the restaurant.
I dont know if the previous reviewers and I went to the same restaurant, but this place- it was AWFUL. What a waste of $200. I had extremely high hopes but was EXTREMELY disappointed. THis is the reason why:
First, they ran out of the crabcake salad so we ordered the sampler that came with skewers and fried wontons, the only thing good in that was the beef skewer.
Second, I orderd the garlic noodle with prawns. The noodle sauce was super salty and oily. the prawns were not fresh, totally frozen. There was so much hype about that noodle but was totally shocked at how bad it was.
Third, hubby ordered their 'famous' dungen crab. Super over loaded with pepper and the crab was NOT fresh. Frozen aswell.
Fourth, for dessert we had the flan and 'music box'. flan was bland but the music box was good.
Fifth, glass of wine- recommended by the waiter, was ok but it was only 1/3 filled.
Sixth, the band was too loud even from the back room. We had to talk even louder to hear eachother.
Seventh, were seated right by the entry to the kitchen, so everytime they passed by our table they almost hit my head with the plates. I flicked my hair away from my face and I actually got my hair in one of the plates- DISGUSTING!
Eight, there is only ONE washroom per side.
Ninth, there are ALOT of steps, I saw 2 old people trip over them and the hostess just giggled and did nothing.
The seasoning aside- the actual ingredients such as the prawns and crab were not fresh- that's why I think its a big waste of $$$$. I dont mind shelling out the cash, but the food gotta be worth it. you people that said it was wonderful, sorry but you must be on crack!
$10 valet parking- expected. so, overall service was ok but the food YUK. Will NEVER return, in fact, will warn ALL my friends about this place. After we left, we had to stop by a gas station to get me some orange juice, all that oil and salt was killing me!!
Wonderful garlic noodles, great service. The four of us ordered drinks from the bar and honest to God, the best cocktails Ive ever tasted. I had a pear martini unlike anything ive ever tasted.

The hostesses were extremely rude and management was no different. The food was o.k., but the service leaves a bad taste. So-called high rollers are obviously more respected.
