Love the food here!!! I went for my birthday lunch a little while back and their food was simply amazing. Slightly pricey, but really worth every penny!
FOOD WAS UNBELIEVABLE! Had their delicious lobster sandwich with vegetable chips and their warm baked bread was SOOO GOOD!!!! THE BEST!!!!! 5 STARS!!
My wife and I visited Spago on March 25 (a Wednesday), 2009 for lunch with our one year old in tow. They were extremely friendly and went all out to make sure that we were properly accommodated. We are always very reticent of how disruptive a child can be in a situation such as that, but the staff went well above what we expected in making sure that we did not feel like weâre an imposition.
For an appetizer we split an order of agnolotti, which was superb in every way. I can say with all honesty that it was much better than I had expected and an imaginative use of a simple medium in a way that shows both the talent and creativity of the kitchen. For my main course I had the grilled lobster sandwich. The bread was slightly overdone for the sandwich, which made the contents hard to keep under control during consumption. Also, it seemed rather greasier than it needed to be. That being said, the overall flavor was quite good and I would highly recommend it.
My wife had the grilled flat-iron (schezuan) steak. Before I post her review, please let me first quantify my next statement by saying that my wife and I travel a great deal and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. Baring a couple of surprise bites of âextraordinary spicy heat,â my wifeâs steak was the best she had in years. The waiter suggested (albeit a bit too insistently) the perfect wine to accompany the steak, making it one of the best courses that she can remember.
Before tip and without dessert (dinner was more than enough!), we spent a little over $100 for our meal. Overall the food was excellent, the service exquisite and Wolfgang Puck even stopped by our table for a quick "Hello" and a picture. This is one âmust visitâ places that actual lives up to its billing.
