I was so disappointed! I read all the great reviews a long time ago, so Lillyâs was on my To Go list. The place is just another pretentious, overpriced, not-so-French âFrench LA restaurantâ. The mushroom, asparagus puff pastry appetizer was over seasoned, the lamb was not good, potatoes had too much nutmeg, rib eye was average, the wine was âbofâ. The server tried to argue with me that the toasted bread was good. No dude, we eat fresh bread with our meals, not croutons. People who like the place probably donât know French food very well. Donât waste your hard-earned money there.
The food here is very average and the service was horrible. They were unable to give any recommendation for wine, when the appetizers took forever to come out the bread basket went un-refilled. Dessert took 20 minutes for a simple and pre-made creme brule. Ricidulously slow, over-priced and we will not be returning.
How on earth can Lilly's end up on the home page of yahoo as one of the best French restaurants in LA? I have eaten there and one experience has been worse than the last! The service is horrible and the food is worse! In addition they use arugula in and on everything and it is horrible. At a recent lunch the service was SO BAD that we were there for over two hours. I was thankful we were outside so we could at least enjoy the neighboring garden.
