Noisy and crowded, yes, but this is LA and if you can't live with noisy and crowded maybe you should move? With that being said the ambiance, people and scene are what make Hal's the spot. The food is good, but pricey.
After finally making it to Hal's with a date tonight I was sadly disappointed when the neighboring table spilled wine all over my leg and upper torso with a sorry excuse about catching the glass before it could have fallen to the ground. When I mentioned it to the waitress she regailed me with a story of another victim of the evening who had red wine spilled on his white shirt as if to say "You made out easy buddy". There was no attempt on the part of the staff to compensate for the incident. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I thought it was customary for an establishment of some renown to offer to clean the soiled clothes or to pay for that evening's dinner.
Oh well...won't be back anytime soon.
Hal's is a local gem...though not for those looking to get away cheap! One round of drinks and turkey burgers for three gals brought us down $80!!! But the food is delicious if you can afford it :)
