When it comes to burritos they have the best burritos. I have driven as far as 40 miles for a carne asada burrito. I ate one there and had to take another to go, i am actually eating it now. There is no indoor seating and it is cash only but considering the price of $3.50 a piece it makes up for the inconvenience.
Prices Have Gone Up, Portions Smaller: This place used to be awesome, but since the new owners took over, the prices have steadily climbed to the point that its not such a great deal. The portions, especially the burritos, have shrunken to the size of a run-of-the-mill burrito in LA...smaller than La Salsa or Baja Fresh. No longer worth the longish wait on the sidewalk and having to pay cash only. Too bad this once-great joint is now just mediocre.
best taco stand in all the land: There is always a line at La Playita.. because the food is off the chain. Amazing shimp cocktail, every mexican seafood delicacy you might care to eat, taco's the size of your face, La Playita is the best. I regularly leave with my stomach bursting and having not spent more than 5 or 6 bucks. Good quality and clean too, most taco stands leave you feeling bad but I've never had a problem here. Honestly, I've eatin tacos all over LA, from East Los, to Echo Parque, to Culber City, to Downtown, and this is my joint. Not to be missed. And for god sakes, branch out beyond the normal chicken burrito routine and try some ceviche.
