I was there on a Friday evening and the food was absolutely wonderful. The service wasn't too bad either. It was so well worth every minute. I ordered a martini however, I wouldn't recommend it because I tasted absolutely no alcohol in it. I will stick to red wine next time.
The restaurant industry paid my way through college and grad. school, and I was trained that customer service is important. So, why is it so that La Creperie Cafe believes that the economy is so robust that they can afford to offend customers with poor service? My friends (who drove from Pasadena) and I went there for a birthday lunch and the host seated at least three tables of people that had arrived after we did. When we questioned those methods we were told we were next and they seated a few more people after that. Finally, we were frustrated and I told the male host it was my friend's birthday and she was becoming dissappointed and I really needed to take my medication with food and he told me we should just leave since, "We were at a resturant." The food is good, the service is usually competent and efficient, in addition, the price is quite reasonable. I've been to the restaurant many times with different groups of friends over the last five years I have lived in Long Beach, and have waited much longer for a table there, but now I won't go back to be treated so rudely.
We didn't know the wait would be long on a Saturday night and we stood out in the cold for about 45 minutes. However, it was all worth it. The wine was delicious, the crepes were outstanding. We all passed our plates around to taste what one another had order and I can honestly say that all dishes were beyond delicious. The servings are overly generous. I couldn't finish my own. Still we decided to share a dessert crepe (between 6 people) and a nice dessert wine. It was pricey if you're used to $5 meals but completely worth it for the quality of the food and the service. The ambiance was nice however, it feels a little crowded. Putting a positive spin on that one can say the place is quite cozy :)
