My friends and I have eaten at the firefly numerous times. We find the food excellent with a small selection that compliments the appetizers. The soups have been especially delicious. We enjoy the seasonal offerings. My husband is very particular about his food. I asked his opinion." Well seasoned well prepared and satisfying a gourmet palate." We are fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber in our town...
I had a rack of lamb dish that might be the best food I have ever tasted. They need more selection but frankly i'd just eat the lamb forever. They were also very good with my food allergy issues. That gets my kudos.
You Can do Better: My wife and I tried Firefly for the first time on Saturday night, August 11 around 7:00 p.m. There was no waiting. We were with our son and his girlfriend; our son had eaten there once before and liked it. The setting is pleasant, a covered patio. The menu was varied yet limited. For example, there was one beef selection, one chicken, one fish. If the cut or preparation didn't appear appealing there was no alternative. My son ordered country duck and liked it. His girlfirend had the only beef selection; flat iron steak. They did not have an appetizer. They both were satisfied with their choice. My wife wasn't as hungry. She ordered a cup of gazpacho as an appetizer and fried mushrooms as an entree. I had a tomato and beet salad and chicken mole. The gazpacho was nicely seasoned and the tomato and beet salad excellent. However, the fried mushrooms had been sliced into small slivers and fried in a tempura batter. The mushroom pieces became lost in the soggy batter and lacked flavor as well as crispiness. The chicken mole was too spicy for my taste. Service was excellent. A man who appeared to be the manager came by late in the meal and asked each of us how we liked our meal. He got to me last and I indicated it was just so so. He asked the problem and when told it was too spicy said it could have been replaced with another choice if they had known sooner (part of the problem was that no other choice would have appealed to me; I probably would have ordered a second appetizer). At that point he walked off; my entree was not comped, no complimentary dessert or glass of wine.......nothing. We skipped dessert. We ordered a bottle of Angeline merlot priced at $30 and two additional glasses of the same ($9.50 each). Without tip the total was $150; pricey for an unsatisfying meal. We won't be back.

I loved it too. Too expensive even after we brought our own wine from Wine Styles.
