My husband and I went in to Oceanview the other night to try out the new Summer menu and meet the new owners. The restaurant was busy and festive, and we found the service to be extremely good. Our server was friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable about the menu and truly made our dining experience enjoyable. I had the Caprese Salad to start with, and thought it was heavenly. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Ahi and Char Poki, saying that it had just the right kick to it! For our entrees, he loved his Hanger Steak...it melted in his mouth, and I opted for the Mahi Mahi...the sauce was superb. We asked if we could meet the chef, and sure enough, Craig Russell came out to our table and sat for a few minutes with us and talked about the menu, his background (he had just come from Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood, and had trained in Italy and in New Orleans!), and then, he asked what we'd like for dessert! And boy, oh boy...the Banana Cream wonder of all wonders appeared at our table, and we were on cloud nine!
Between the appetizers, the entrees, the dessert and the wine, our entire evening was just superb, and I highly recommend Oceanview Contemporary Bistro to all. The music was playing while we dined, and the atmosphere was happy and friendly. I give it ten thumbs up!
I use to go to the Oceanview Grill all of the time, it was my favorite restaurant. I have not been there for awhile and decided to go last night with some friends. A few of my friends have been there before with myself. We were told that there was new owners and a new menu when we called for reservations. We decided to still go and see how the new menu was. They had a fantastic menu before, loved the Chicken Bernini and the Filet Mignon was incredible. Those were two of my favorite dishes from the old menu.
The service with the new owners were fine and very friendly. But the food was awlful we were all very disappointed. I started with a bowl of French Onion Soup that had lots of Onions in it but no taste of onions. It had a strange flavor that I never tasted in French Onion Soup. For dinner I had the Roasted Chicken on top of white beans and both had no seasoning at all, very tasteless. If I'm going to pay that kind of money for Chicken I can only hope it has taste. Another friend had order the Pork Tenderloin that came with a Pudding. The Pudding was good but the Pork was so dried she took that home for her dog. The other friends had Scallops and said they were good but did not like the rice that it was sitting on. It was the special that night and rather expensive for three Scallops. I would have to say Oceanview Grill is no longer my favorite restaurant and I will not go back.
My boyfriend and I had dinner here on our anniversary for the first time and everything from the food to the service to the ambiance of the entire place was wonderful!! We work in the industry and definitely know good food when we see it. We could not have picked a better spot to celebrate.
First off we were greeted by the General Manager himself who was very gracious and led us to our seats. We started with their version of a shrimp cocktail. The presentation was impressive to say the least. Four shrimp stacked atop a battered and fried yellow heirloom tomato with a spicy mayo sauce. For our entrees, I had the pan-fried artic char which was perfectly seasoned; with a chorizo pancake filled with onions, potatoes, and bell peppers, a roasted red pepper coulis, and some kind of green sauce. My boyfriend had the lamb osso bucco with the mascarpone risotto which was delicious. I was surprised by the risotto the most, seeing as how the mascarpone cheese wasn't too overwhelming in taste, but instead added to the creaminess of the risotto.
We asked our waiter to recommend a wine for each of our entrees and it seemed that he was very knowledgeable about the wine list because the wine we each had went perfectly well with our food. For dessert, there were only 2 options which was a bit disappointing. However, we chose the peach cobbler with the peach gelato. The cobbler was waaay too hot to eat once it arrived at our table, and I found it a bit too sweet, but my boyfriend enjoyed it.
In addition to the great food, there was live music. The service was smooth and quick and aside from the couple bickering behind us, we had a great time. Total bill was $100 which to us was priceless for the great food. We left feeling satisfied and not as if we had overeaten.
