A decade ago it was Carla and Alvin, both were great dogs and lived long healthy lives. Now it's Bugoy who is 10 years old, Peanut and Burrito both of which are 10 months old. This is a very good place to bring your dog, I have never had an issue with there services at all. As a good dog owner you have to keep vigilant with your dogs health, and a lot of the responsibly with regards to keeping your dog up with to date with any shots he may need, giving your dog quality food, and consistent exercise, I think a lot if not the majority of your dogs health falls upon the owner.
Having 3 dogs at home; Peanut, Bugoy, and Burrito, I figured that it would be safer to have Peanut, the only female, spayed. I brought Peanut who is a short haired chihuahua in yesterday morning and they told me that I could pick her up the next day. It was simple and convenient (for me that is) and in picking up my dog today she looked remarkably well adjusted, they say it would take a couple of days for my dog to get back to normal but what I really liked was how the doctor used suture material that dissolves, so that there are no sutures to be removed, that the sutures were inside and would dissolve. No need for to come back in 3 weeks and no need for my dog to wear one of those cone collars. Dr. Jimerson is the one that takes care of all my dogs and I would recommend him to anybody. Oh here is a tip, go to http://www.laanimalser... and get a coupon worth $30 off your bill when you get your pet spayed or neutered.
At times the waiting area can get a little crowed, a little warm, and a little noisy, but even with this the staff is very patient and very professional.

To Dr. Jimerson and staff:
As you know, a couple months ago, we went through a terrible time with our beloved Labrador " Buddy" . Buddy goes with me on the trail, with my horse and i cannot always monitor what his big nose gets into. I'll never forget that night my friend Barbra and i took him to the emergency " high profile" hospital in Los Angeles. After 4 hours they sent Buddy home with pain medication and an " up in the air diagnosis". The next day i took Buddy to his regular vet Dr. Jimerson and he stayed 2 days for I.V fluids and was treated for an infection, probably cought by eating something on the trail. My animals mean everything to me, they are my family. I can sleep better at night, knowing Gateway is always there for them. It's great having in our community a good hospital with such caring and knowledgeable staff. Thank you for being there for us...

I have been a client of Gateway Animal Hospital for almost 15 years. Unequivocally, I can tell you that the two vets who have treated my animals -- Dr. Villacana and Dr. Preskopf are phenomenal.
On more than one occasion Dr. Villacana literally saved my animalâs lives. For instance, a number of years ago, I found a German (Shiloh) Shepherd in Griffith Park who was near death. In fact when I brought him into Gateway Dr. Villacana said that the most humane option might be euthanasia because of how bad his situation was. However, when I said I wanted to try and save him, Dr. V. pulled out all the stops, giving him transfusions, operating numerous times and rehabilitating. This dog recovered and lived for another 7 years before succumbing to old age.
In another instance Dr. V. recognized that my Dalmatian had something seriously wrong with him and did immediate surgery. He uncovered an enormous spleenic tumor. If Dr. V. had not acted upon his intuition and operated my dog would have died that day. As it turned out his quick action bought us about a month â enough time to at least prepare for his death and giving us the chance to say good-bye.
Both Dr. Preskopf and Dr. Villacana and indeed the entire help staff, especially George, the office manager, are kind and compassionate and many times have gone out of their way to help and comfort. While there may be people who have not had positive experiences at Gateway, anyone reading reviews of this vet clinic online should give equal weight to the positive postings. Sometimes people post negative entries as a way of trying to absolve themselves of guilt about their benign neglect of their animals (failing to take in the animal when symptoms are first noticed) and then find it convenient to blame the vet for the animals illness or death. In my experience Gateway is a terrific vet office with a number of exceptional doctors on staff.
