Company Information: Grab a number and get in line - you will be glad that you did. Close to the popular Glendale Galleria , this extremely busy Cuban-style deli may seem a bit chaotic at first, but that is because people know a good thing when they have tasted it. This eatery serves up some of the most unique and tasty sandwiches and baked goods around. Its unusual Potato Sandwich, made with beef, sounds strange but tastes fabulous. Well worth it, most people say. Credit cards are not accepted.
Hours of Operation: Breakfast, Lunch & Early Dinner daily

Every time I go in to Portos Bakery whether it's busy or not they are sooo attentive to our needs. We love thier services. They are the best! Love the cakes, pastries, and goodies. We recently went to Merengue Cuban Bakery in Monrovia, CA. There is absolutely no comparison in both. Their cakes are dried and don't provide the 100% customer service. Especially the fact that they weren't even busy. Their Employess were rude when manager walked in they changed their attitude. I don't recommand the drive to Merengue Bakery. Portos Bakery in Glendale is well worth the drive. I can't wait to order my Wedding Cake from Portos Bakery The Original Cuban Bakery.
Even though the food is fantastic at Porto's (namely the sandwiches and bakery, mmm!), it is hardly worth the 20 minutes of driving around to find a too-tight parking spot, waiting in line for another 10 minutes (they have a line at 6am), and then having to wait for your food for another 15.
The service is very disorganized in general. You need to yell to tell the server what you want, all the while being lightly shoved/pushed around by other customers. Once you finally get your order number, they may fail to tell you to pick up your coffee at the other counter or give you your drink, pastries, receipt, etc.
For me, the good does not outweigh the bad, and I don't like going here since it is such a hassle. Try El Morfi down the street!
i used to work at this location and let me tell you that since it is family own, you'll get 4 people to boss you around, one of them is so weird i just had to get away from, one of them cares mostly for the beautiful ladies that need to be serviced, the other one yells at you like if you are one of the family's kids, and the last one which i don't have any complaints b/c she is just a wonderful lady her name is betty, and then you get your managers which are great to work with specially Will. Yes we all heard it, great cakes, great sandwiches, great pastries; unfortunatly, you don't hear about the employees, they get worked to the bones, i remember i used to work like a dog, i would have nightmares for a whole month about that place, i also remember that you couldn't even say anything about breaks that we all deserve (you know after 2 hrs of work take a 10 to 15 min. break, and then you get lunch 30min.) well not in this place, i've seen how people can get laid off just b/c they bring up the labor laws. On the holidays you get a lot of over time, i was young when i started there if i would have known then what i know today about labor laws i could have gotten a lot of money from breaks that i couldn't take. It is understandable, you can't take breaks b/c the place is just packed of customers all over the place, busy, busy, busy, they will say. Their solution was to hire more employees, expand porto's #1, and built porto's #2, currently they have another project to build another one. I'm not trying to say don't go there anymore b/c of the way the employees get treated, instead for you to realize how painful it can get when it is really busy. I remember that in the time period i was there i got about 5 to 10 times tips from customers, now being that young and hungry for money, that felt really good. Therefore, do them a favor, if you like the food, the service, the place, and there's no complain about anything tip those people up, they don't ask b/c it is not proper, but i believe that w/ a nice gesture they can provide the best of the best customer service you'll ever get.
That comment was for those people who got bad customer service at porto's. Oh yeah! by the way since i used to get a lot of customers that know a lot of bakeries out there, let me tell you that porto's pastries are simply the BEST, but some place else has the BEST cakes, sorry can't tell where it is all i'll say it's somewhere in chinatown or koreatown. I rated 4 stars for exceeds the expectations but not on employee satisfaction.
