We LOVE Carousel! My daughter has been dancing here for 5 years, after trying quite a few studios in the area. Ms. Michelle is a dream, just the nicest person and very patient with the girls! Ms. Susan is tender, fun and encouraging. Ms. Lynne pushes the girls to be the best they can be. Ms. Natalie is the most beautiful dancer and the girls really respect and admire her. Ms. Karen (the owner) is honest and fortheright, which I appreciate. She may be a little abrasive for some, but I have never found her to be hurtful and only wants what is best for the students and studio. All have beautiful technique and a wonderful teaching style.
Some (who do not send their girls to Carousel)say Carousel is too strict, which I find ridiculous. They want you to be there on time(oh for heavens sake, people complain about that?) besides, they set their clock about 7-10 mins slow so you really can't be late! They want the girls hair in a ballet bun; well it is ballet after all! If you can't do one, Chelsea is more than happy to help (she is another amazing addition to Carousel, they would fall apart without her organizational abilities.) They want the girls to wear a certain type and color leotard depending on which class they're in. Almost all studios all over the US require this. They are teaching respect and discipline. All of which are so very important in dance as well as in life.
There is a dance company as well that tours the US and competes with other studios. I am not overly familiar with company, but have only heard great things.
As for the previous review, all I can say is parents anywhere where the competition is high will do anything to have their child succeed. Just don't feed into it and stay away from people like that.
Nice program and most parents that take their child there are nice, but then there are those who think that they are in charge and back stab whom ever gets in their way. Not a very friendly place once you have been there for a while. Nasty, back stabbing women!
