I love Kabuki. My boyfriend have eaten there (in Woodland Hills) quite a few times and love it. The service is great - very friendly and attentive. We usually order a variety of rolls - one of favorites being the dragon roll. The BSCR also goes down very well, as do the spider roll and Eel and avacado roll. Our only small gripe is that the Edamame is quite plain with not that much salt, but it's really an issue. The prices are a little higher than some places, but still reasonable for what you get.
I went to Kabuki in Woodland Hills for my first time tonite. The service was not very attentive, yet they seemed to have more than sufficient staff working there.
The portion of food they give you was HUGE.
But....
The sushi was AWFUL! Very mushy! It stuck to the chop sticks. Wondering if they froze it (not sealing it too well), making it mushy when it defrosted. This was the case for various types, including the tuna, albacore, you name it (had the sushi special combo dinner for $16.95). The scallops had an old mold film around them.
It was so embarassing, I ran to the bathroom twice, throwing up (this has NEVER happened to me before as I have been eating sushi for 23 years!). I went to tell them and apologize for the mess in their bathroom. I saw several customers running to the bathroom afterwards.
I do not think they are tending to their fish at proper temperatures and care, resulting in this problem. I hope they can correct it for their customers sake!
They did deduct my dinner from the bill. My girlfriend could not eat all of hers as it also looked bad.
go every week...great all the time: always fresh and always tastes the same. Fun to try new dishes. Never disappointed.
