I am really shocked to hear anything bad about Casa Vega. I have been going there for 10 years. Love the dark atmospere, great margaritas, love the staff (most have worked there for 30+ years) that says something about the place. Try the Tostada salad and the oven baked chicken burrito, they are my favorite.
Rude staff and horrible treatment! This place obviously thinks it's the new skybar or something. They don't take reservations and yet they will seat 'certain people' right away (who aren't even celebrities - just friends) while regular customers wait upwards to an hour. I watched them dismiss an older couple for over 40 minutes saying that the manager's rules are that groups of 8 or more have priority and yet we continually watched groups of 2,3 & 4 also be seated. The couple finally left and my friend and I decided to follow suit; we'd gotten there after them and didn't want to be next in line for such treatment. Never ate their food and don't want to since the manager feels my hard-earned $ isn't worth as much as other patrons' or a groups'.
another really bad mexican restaurant: despite it's cool 70's inspired, dim lighted dining area and it's comfortable environs, casa vega's food is about one step above the frozen food section at yr local grocer...awful flautas...iceberg lettuce salads...bland sauces....oily cheeses...yuck...i don't know if all the positive reviews of this place are margarita influenced or not, but you got to be kidding me...about the only thing authenticaly mexican about this place are the busboys and cooks...shame on them for representing like this...
