I visited El Comal one time and had a horrible experience. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, and try them again. Unfortunately my second visit was even worse. Our waitress was very rude to start off. We sat for 20 minutes before she even gave us our menus. 15 minutes later she took our order. 20 minutes after that our food arrive, and it was cold. This was astonishing since there were only a couple more diners. The food was cold, generally dry and lacking any flavor. It reminded me of the stuff being served at Hometown Buffet. No taste, very bland, a great place to take Grandma.
Best Mexican food in ages!: Wow...went there for lunch today and was impressed enough to come home and look up El Comal right away. I had a chicken tostada - delicious, and my husband had the cochinita pibil (which was out of this world). The homemade corn tortillas were perhaps the best I've ever had. I'd only give the chips a "B" but the red and green sauces accompanying them were very tasty. Don't miss this one!
Right from your mama's Kitchen!!: I have been visiting here for over a year now. The staff, servers and bus boys are always ready and happy to see that you are enjoying your meal. They treat you with respect. The food is simply beyond excellence. With Mexican food being abused by all those "Bertos" taco shops, I was skeptical at first so I ordered the "Barbacoa de Chivo" and was simply blown away! They serve most dishes with home made corn tortillas. I had not found a Mexican Restaurant that makes authentic food as delicioius as El Comal does. Great atmosphere, great authentic food! Simply GREAT. Check out their bar by night. The place simply transforms into a great dancing, karaoke bar! A definite 10
