So recently, I have been on vacation in L.A. and one night, my family and I went to a restaurant named Savoy for dinner. We were introduced/ told that the food there was really good authentic Chinese/ Asian food by one of our family friends so we decided to see how good it really was. At a first view, the whole restaurant looked pretty bad, being so small that the customers mainly sat outside and ate. Also, the line that was waiting to be seated outside, simply put: there wasn't enough space. Also, to get to the bathroom, first you had to go back inside the store, the little space that was indoors and ask the waitress for keys to the bathroom. Then walk around 50 steps to the bathroom, which was really small and could only hold 1 person(2 at the most). Then, you had to go the way back all the way inside to the store and give the keys back. Even the simplest process of washing your hands was a mess to take on. However, all of these displeasures were easily forgotten due to the quality of the service that we received. Only after a few minutes after we arrived, we immediately received seats for a party of 8. Although our seats were outside, it didn't really seem cold due to the quickness that we got what we ordered. As soon as we sat down, one of the waiters put down the settings and gave us our drinks along with the menu. A few minutes later he collected our orders and gave them to the chef. At first, I had brought along a deck of cards, thinking that it would take some time before we got our meals. But, I was wrong. I got my food, all of us in a mere 3-5 minutes. Yet, the quality of the food wasn't sacrificed either, as the food was as good as i had thought it to be. I ordered a HaiNan Chicken w/rice and oh my god, that was the best chicken and rice combination that I have eaten so far. It was so well done, that even the Chicken breast(white meat) was as tender as the drumsticks(dark meat). However, the item that this place is so famous for is the curry that they make. Maybe it's just me, but the curry was really spicy and had a lot of flavor to it, maybe because I haven't tried the Malaysian curry before. Everyone in our party finished with our stomachs full and a happy mood, because a great meal is one thing that can make everybody happy. In addition, get this straight, our party arrived there at around 9:00 p.m. so think, where can one get such supreme quality along with outstanding service in the bay area? Also, a party of 8, and we only paid around$60-$70 for all of us. I give this restaurant a 4.7 out of 5 stars and I encourage you to check it out. If ever you get to go on the road and by chance get to Los Angeles, just try it out. i hope this helps..thanks for reading.

The hainan chicken is as tasty as everyone else says it is. The combination of the chicken, rice and sauces is incredible. Pair that with the chicken broth and the chrysanthenum tea, and your stomach will thank you.

but keep in mind, street parking can be difficult to come by, the waits are long, and the outhouse-like bathroom is as ghetto as it gets.
