| About: | This big restaurant is filled with memorabilia from California's wild Gold Rush days, and just staring at the walls can be entertaining. The food is served in piles on the plate, and it is definitely a place to bring your appetite. Ribs are the best bet, and the Country Fried Steak is renowned. Claim Jumper also offers a delicious Hot Turkey Sandwich made with freshly cooked real turkey breast - not a pressed turkey roll as at many restaurants. Desserts are big and tasty. |

I've been there three times; and gotten stomache problems two of the three times.
Once on a salad bar (don't ask me how you get diaharrea from a salad bar); and the second time my son and I both got stomache aches from the McNuggets and the Southwestern eggrolls.
The place is always busy; I can't imagine how others are not getting sick.
My advice: go to Soup Plantation if you want big portions.
The food there is always good, but the service at this location was so pathetic I can't rate the food without a bad taste in my mouth from their staff. When we were told a 5-10 minute wait to be seated, it was over an hour before we noticed others entering ahead of us...we asked if our "name" (and who in the world is going to listen for "six-gun Bob", etc?) had been called, and stated our alert-box hadn't gone off. The girl told me rather snottily that we should have stayed in the building since our buzzer had been queued several times and we had been paged several times as well...I informed her we had been standing less than 10 feet from her in the waiting area the entire time...she queued our buzzer to make sure it worked and lo-and-behold it did. Then she said we'd be next in, and took the buzzer from me. My party stood directly in front of her while she chatted with her co-workers for another 10-15 mins., she then took another group in front of us yet again. We asked what happened and she asked for our buzzer (again)....the wait-staff was as bad, taking another hour to get our food to our table and didn't even get the orders right. I love the food at this chain, but I can go on and on about how awful the service is at this location. I highly recommend anyone who intends to go here to make the drive all the way up to Carmel Montain's location instead, and let this one lose your patronage until such time as they fire half the staff and replace them, just as a warning to the other half to shape-up.
