I come from St. Louis where there is incredibly wonderful Italian food so I am a bit difficult to impress in the Italian food category. Some years ago when my husband and I moved to Escondido we visited Dominic's restaurant and were under whelmed. Last week we decided to give it a try again as there was a sign advertising new owners and menu. In the 18 years I have lived in the San Diego I have not tasted Italian food this good! You had me at the delicious warm aromatic focaccia and marinara - brought to our table shortly after we arrived! I could literally drink their marinara it is so good and the Rolatiniâs are to die for! We have enjoyed their food three times now in a little over a week and been delighted with every item we had â including the take out pizza last Friday night.
What a find!!! The atmosphere is casual, welcoming and the servers are both friendly and know their menu well and are very helpful. We will try everything on the menu for sure. I would highly recommend - if you are looking for really mouth watering Italian food â THIS IS THE PLACE!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was .... im not too sure myself. I have only one word for mama's chiecken and that is DRY. The chicken meat was just bland. I ordered the Eggplant parmasian with mama's chicken and I was glad I ordered some sauce or my dish would not have been decent. I enjoyed the salad and the soup but the main dish was just appetizing.
I really like Dominic's. It has a real family feel to it...in fact, the owner's husband waited on us. The food was very good. A real thin crust pizza for those who like it that way. Another plus, they pour a good glass of wine for the dinero. It's not that fancy, but it definitely has an atmosphere...of some sort.
