I had my car towed into Encinitas Ford. I received an estimate to fix it for $1787.00. I was told that all of this work was either necessary or highly recommended to get my car running properly again. I also had to pay $140 for the diagnostic. After calling a few local mechanics, these charges seemed wrong and excessive, so I towed my car to a local mechanic. This mechanic found that the car had a blown fuse and bad connector at the fuel pump. The local mechanic replaced the fuse and connector for a total of $89.00. Beware of the extreme unethical practices at Encinitas Ford. They lack integrity and will take great advantage of you!
I would not advise anyone to get a car from here. STAY AWAY!!!!!!! I have only had my car for 6 months and the dash board lights started shutting off. I took it to them the first time and they wouldnt even look at it, the manager drove it and said nothing happened while he drove it and sent us on our merry little way. I went to California to visit some friends for the Veterans Day weekend and it started again. I took the car and dropped it off on that Saturday didn't get my car back until Tuesday. They claimed it was the Compressor and said they replaced it which my warrenty covered. While driving home back to Arizona everything was fine. When I drove the car on Thursday it started doing the same thing while I was using cruise control and almost caused me to have an accident because the car almost shut off while I was driving. I am waiting on them to open at this moment which is Friday November 14th so I can (A) get my car fixed correctly, or (B) get me another car because I refuse to pay for something that has been giving me problems since I've had it.....I am also going to contact a lawyer today, because if anything happens to me and my family while drinving this car it is all going to come down to them giving me the run around and not trying to get this problem resolved correctly. UPDATE: I spoke with the manager who was very RUDE, I explained the problem I am having with my car and he said it is showing in the system is that I bought the car in because my air conditioner wasn't getting cold. I explained to him that when I bought the car in the dash lights were out and that I needed that checked as well. We went back and forth for a while and I told him I have the sheet hear stating what I told them about my dash and he still said I was WRONG! I hung up with him and called the head Ford and made my complaint about my car with them and she typed everything up and sent it to a local dealership in Arizona. She said someone should be calling within 4 business days. I will NEVER get a FORD again.....please spare yourself the headache with Encinias Ford!!!!!!
great dealership: They were so helpful in helping me find my new car. It was totally quick and painless.

A dealer shop works differently than a mechanics shop. They will find everything that should be fixed in order to return the car to near-factory condition. Of course they're going to recommend it... they want every car of bearing their brand on the road to be in the best shape it can be. Cost is no issue in their eyes. Apparently you were outside of your warranty... so why would you have it towed to a dealer in the first place? Dealers have no business working on cars that aren't under warranty. Do it yourself or pay a mechanic. A reputable mechanic will help you identify what is FUNCTIONALLY wrong with your car similar to the way a doctor would... certain symptoms prompted you to bring the car in, their mission is to find a cure... I'm just responding because this isn't really a fair post... they didn't act any differently than any dealer I've ever heard of...
