| About: | The decor is virtually non-existent and the atmosphere is ultra-casual, yet this place is arguably the most crowded cafe in all of La Jolla. It is not on the beaten path of La Jolla's main streets, making it a well-kept secret among locals who flock here daily. Expect a busy and noisy atmosphere, compliments of the full-view kitchen. Breakfast options include Blackberry Pancakes and Mission French Toast. With sandwiches and other lunch options available, this makes for an excellent meeting spot or just a spot to meet new people. |

This place is definitely 5 stars! It's tasty, and soy delicious. I say this because when we were staying in La Jolla, we had the choice between the cottage and this place for breakfast and our host took us here and it was absolutely amazing. And to boot, the waiters were all guys that helped us. I could just sit there. I don't know how I even had the courage to sit there with a straight face after I told the waiter I would like "your meat" when I'm a vegan! It was all good fun and we had such a good experience here. I'll definitely come here again!
My friend Brandie and I were looking for a new place to eat breakfast. We have these days that we get together to discuss the current affairs, i.e. relationships, and girly stuff. We came across The Coffee Cup. I have eaten there every Wednesday or Thursday since the beginning. The staff is AWESOME! Why am I even calling them staff? My friends are AWESOME. The food is absolutely to die for. Try the breakfast enchiladas, it's one of my favorites. The Papas Loco is a regular to my stomach also, with all fresh and never over cooked ingredients. It's the kind of place that you feel so welcomed. All of the food on the menu is filling, but not enough that you feel like you have stuffed yourself...in a bad way, It's all healthy for you, right down to their power breakfast with egg whites, black beans and brown rice with their own house salsa. (I love their salsa) They use the freshest of ingredients. The coffee is definitely up there too. They brew it perfectly every time. My friend Brandie orders the latte EVERY TIME! I love this place so very much. I wish they had more places like this in San Diego. The people, the food, and the atmosphere is definitely worth the drive to La Jolla, and definitely worth my five stars.
We too are flying to San Diego from Texas next weekend to visit, and one of the main reasons is to hit up our favorite restaurants and soak up the atmosphere. The Coffee Cup is at the top of our list of favorite breakfast places - its the BEST! Try the french toast - the best I've ever had! The hot chocolate is excellent too....
