About:A tradition to many La Jollans, this Italian bistro serves fresh authentic regional Italian cuisine. A landmark Ficus tree takes up one corner of their very popular patio, but the bright and cheerful dining room is delightful during the day or on those chilly evenings when it's too cold to sit outside. The menu is presented in an innovative and creative fashion offering a wide variety of pastas, pizza and grilled items. In addition, you may find many vegetarian and health conscious dishes. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday and includes specialties such as Uovo Benedetto (Eggs Benefits served on grilled polenta with basil hollandaise) along with omelets and breakfast pizzas.

Amazing food and service.: We have been going here for years. It is great for any occasion -- meeting friends, my mother-in-law's 90th birthday, a romantic dinner for two, you name it. The service has always been fabulous and the food is wonderful. Don't be afraid to try the patio.

A Must: Piatti is a great place to be at. The food is always great. The only thing i dont enjoy about this place is that it's ALWAYS busy which means it's very noisy. If you plan to come to this place make sure to make a reservation a day in advance

Great food, atmosphere, service, and location!: As one of the locals in the La Jolla Shores area, I highly recommend this restaurant. My personal favorite thing about the restaurant is the bread - nearly everyone that goes there cannot get enough of the sauce (it's really that good). It's near the ocean, so it is never too cold or too hot in the outdoor seating in a courtyard under a huge landmark Ficus tree. The food is excellent, and at a very reasonable price. It's hard to find a bad meal, and many of my friends have enjoyed the resteraunt as well. Note that the menu is accomodating, so you can also customize your dishes to a degree. This resteraunt is great for any get-together, whether it be family or business. There is also a bar with a great bartender. You will not be dissipointed!

    Recommendations:

For starters, I highly recommend the Fritto Misto (fried shrimp and calamari and aspargus with tartar sauce).

My personal favorite entrees are the Pappardelle "Fantasia" (pappardelle pasta with shrimp, fresh tomato and arugula, spiced with garlic, pepper flakes, and also flavored with some white wine and butter) and the Rotolo di Funghi (rolled pasta with wild mushrooms, ricotta, spinach in an amazing cremini mushroom cream sauce).

The only thing lacking, in my opinion, is the dessert menu. I have tried nearly every dish they offer (about 10) but have only liked 4. Of the choices, my personal favorites are the key-lime pie (this is really good - its a key lime pie made with raspberries, topped with a raspberry coulis) and the creme brule (the flavor hints at orange).

(If you happened to notice the date... well, it's not an April Fool's Joke)
