| About: | Located along the famous Pacific Coast Highway, Mary's Family Restaurant serves home-style meals in a casual environment. A few umbrella-topped tables line the outside patio. Inside, pictures of ocean scenes cover the walls. Expect to find a crowded, yet comfortable atmosphere. Traditional breakfast favorites, such as sausage and eggs or biscuits and gravy, are served early each morning. For lunch, try the hot meatloaf sandwich or a patty melt. The dinner menu offers pork chops and top sirloin, served with vegetables, potatoes, a dinner roll and dessert. |

Mary's USED to be a great place to eat.
On our last visit I ordered meat loaf. Don't know what I got but it was drowning in a thick brown gravy that tastes like it came from a can. I just couldn't finnish it and that's rare for me.
The taste had no similarity to any meat loaf I've ever eaten.
They used to have a DELICIOUS hot turkey sandwich made with real turkey. Now you get one with cheap sliced sandwich meat.
The "dinners" come with potatoes but no sides.
I don't know what happened to Mary's but, to put it bluntly, the food sucks.(and not in a good way )
The service was still pretty good but that just can't make up for the feeling that you've just eaten Alpo desguised as meat loaf by thick gravy.
We visit Mary's often, and while it isn't health food, it is delicious!
Try to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the weather, as the atmosphere inside isn't great.
Try a breakfast burrito--you won't be dissapointed or able to finish it (it is huge!).
If you like to smell old oil fumes coming from the kitchen and greasy food you'll love Mary's

You obviously don't know anything about good old diner food and classic American down-home-eats. If you are so concerned about health and grease, then I don't think Amercian food is the fit for you! If you cruise a little further down the coast into Encinitas, you will find the "rabbit food" cafes'o pleanty-no worries about grease and oil there...just make sure to leave the cafe/diner/food to the experts and have fun with your greasless guiltless eats! MARY's F'n ROCKS!!!
The only problem is that you have to dine with the TV blaring at you.
