Fantastic food and service. Expensive but worth it. I have not enjoied a meal in San Diego as much as I did here.
Do not waste your money on this place. It's Mexican food with "French" portions and prices.
OVER PRICED AND OVER RATED.
This is a real Mexican restaurant, not Rubio's or Taco Bell. Candelas is a New York or Los Angeles quality place. Believe it or not you have to pay for quality food. He should move to LA, San Diego is a second tier city and does not have enough people who know quality food when they taste it. There are many rubes in SD, they probably wrote the other reviews.
I started with the Calamares Candela (Calimari) then had the Filete Tlalpan (Beef Filet), both were absolutely perfect. This is the only place in San Diego that can run with the Los Angeles places. This place is better than any LA Mexican establishment. I do not drink or eat dessert, so I can not comment on those.
If you are an educated person who wants to show someone an excellent time, this is the place to go! If your idea of Mexican food is burritos or tostadas, than stay away, go to Rubios instead.
