Pretty good sushi. I would not go as far as the two other reviews in saying freshest sushi around. Better than most and usually consistent. They do have a very nice staff there and if you are looking for sushi in PB, then this would be one of the 'safer spots'.
San Diego's Best Sushi Hideaway: Coming from a very picky sushi eater, I would rank PB Sushi as San Diego's #1 sushi restaurant in terms of quality and value. PB Sushi outperforms San Diego's currently top-ranked sushi restaurants in offering nigiri and sashimi eaters a fresher selection that would please even exotic palates, at a value price. In fact, the sashimi is highly recommended because they serve generous cuts that are so fresh that they almost literally melt in your mouth. My favorites include the nigiri sake (salmon), uni (sea urchin), toro (blue fin tuna belly), aji (Spanish mackerel), ankimo (monk fish liver), ama ebi (tail served raw/head is tempura fried), and the Havana Pearl roll, which is a combination of fresh cuts surrounded by a fresh cucumber wrap and topped with black caviar. The sushi chefs are very friendly and personable, and they work very hard to keep regulars enticed with creative new dishes. Often, they are commended by adoring customers who wish to share a sake shot or a beer with them.
The ambiance is quaint, very clean, and they have plasma and projection TV's for additional entertainment. The service was expedient, and my party was greeted personally by the owner. PB Sushi also offers an excellent selection of moderate to fine Sake (rice wine), sushi rolls, appetizers, and cooked entrées. PB Sushi is also conveniently located near San Diego's finest night spots, and there is a nearby parking lot charging a mere $3 for the whole evening.
If you have never tried to explore what sushi really has to offer, I would recommend this as an excellent place to free your taste buds, because over the past 30 visits Iâve not yet come across a single order that had even the faintest hint of fish odor. Fishy odor is a bad thing - it means that it is not high grade or it is not fresh. Be choosy with your sushi, and choose PB Sushi. Kampai!!!
Friendly!!: The owner there definitely knows how to treat customers. Clean and Friendly. Authentic Japanese food made of freshest fish.
