| About: | Theme restaurants spend millions trying to re-create what this unashamed coffee shop really is: a holdover from the 1950s, relatively unscathed by remodeling. This restaurant's charm is in its simplicity. It is plain, fun and comfortable, with "genuine naughahyde" booths lining the windows, a counter in the rear and cooks on parade behind the pass-through window. Cheap and good, the breakfast special includes pancakes or a waffle, plus two eggs, bacon and sausage. Dinner specials vary, but can include dishes like the tasty Barbecue Boneless Chicken Breast. |

My Wife and I have been to Brian's a few times and thought the service and food were both great, apparently no longer. First off they need specify that the Fries are Seasoned and not standard deep fried potatoes as most people would expect to get. I ordered the Club and my Wife ordered the Chicken Sandwich. There was one small piece of Turkey and two tiny pieces of Bacon that was cold and soggy. There was way too much Ham, it overpowered everything else and honestly was a bit sickening so I had to remove most of it. The bread was greasy and soggy. The Chicken Sandwich was a heated up frozen breaded chicken patty on a burger bun. My Wife ordered a side salad and the Vegetables were starting to turn brown from age. I mentioned to our Waitress about the Fries and she agreed that it should specify. I didn't mention anything about the Sandwiches. This probably wouldn't have been a big deal to me if it weren't for the fact that these Sandwiches are $12.00 each.
This is the only place to eat Prime Rib on Thursday's, I have a hard time getting through the whole meal it is so big. Thanks Brin for the size of the helpings.
We were headed for Phil's BBQ on Goldfinch when we spotted Brians'. I told my wife it came highly recommended on Yahoo so when we couldn't find Phil's, we went back to Brians'. Great choice. Food was excellent, service was excellent, one of the cleanest restaurants I visited in San Diego. Price was very reasonable. Good location, good parking. Close enough to Balboa Park to be there in a few minutes.
