| About: | With an ocean front location and the name South Beach Bar and Grill , fresh seafood is just the right thing to expect. Keep walking towards the ocean and look out for the Mahi fish on the signboard. The oysters, clams and mussels seem to have landed in the kitchen from the deep just outside! Wondering why they're so delicious? They're steamed in garlic butter, white wine and lemon, and there's some garlic bread to go with it! For a filling meal, ask for grilled fishchoose the native specialty, Mahiserved with rice, beans, salsa fresca and flour Tortillas. Tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches, burgers and salads are a hearty offering combined with any of the sides. Beers from renown breweries are also served here. |

i received a great recommendation & visited South Beach bar 'n grille a few days ago. i am from Colorado, so the best fish that we get here is rainbow trout and rocky mountain oysters.
myself and a friend sat at one of the high tops near the front of the bar with cool seabreezes & a clear view of the ocean.
although the bar was full of ppl, i was very pleased with the service. i ordered a "cape cod" absolut, cranberry, 7-up and it was one of the best mixed drinks that i've had. seriously. okay, maybe it was the great people & place & atmosphere.
after the drinks arrived, i just LOVE raw oysters on the 1/2 shell, so i indulged and ordered a dozen, please. yumm-o! the massive oysters arrived from a gentleman who had the nicest smile. damn, i wish i would'a asked his name.. oh well, next time.
these oysters were literally as long as the palm of my hand, length-wise. they were clear & briny, and deliciously smooth. i turned and asked a fellow diner what variety of oysters these were? he didnt know. then the original waitress came & i asked her about the variety of oysters. id never heard of them, she said they were fannie mae from alaska. again, yumm-o!
then we ordered several tacos, as that is what i learned was their specialty. i had a deep fried shrimp taco which was lightly breaded, almost like a tempura batter. i also had the grilled wahoo taco which was also fantastic. all of their tacos, as far as i could tell arrived on a soft corn tortilla with a generous helping of shredded purple cabbage, with tomatos and a yummy white sauce. i'd LOVE to know how they make that white sauce. it went with everything!
lastly, my only regret was to not ask the server with short dark brown hair, sexy surfer body for his tele #. i'll be back..
Lobster tacos are awesome. This place gets packed so it's sometimes tough to get a table. It's worth it to get your lobster/shrimp/fish taco fix.
I never made it in: and I'm kind of glad I didn't. Originally from OC I was down in SD for my birthday. Some friends and I were meeting up with locals to have a few drinks and I approached the door with my ID out and the guy wouldn't admit me. I told him I understood he was doing his job and that the picture was taken 6yrs ago he still wouldn't let me in. I showed my credit cards and he still wouldn't let me in. Very very rude, my local friend who frequents there tried talking to him and he replied "I don't want to see that F-ing ID anymore". I went to Sunshines down the way and the doorman welcomed me with a "Happy Birthday", glad I went there instead.
