As long time residents of Barstow, my wife and I generally avoid this restaurant because of the beer and pizza house crowd atmosphere in the evening. Yesterday, we decided to try it in the afternoon before the loud dinner crowd came in. We ordered lasagna and water. We were served our water in tinted glasses. Although generous, both of us thought the pasta was thick and doughy to chew. When we received our bill, the waitress had charged us $4+ for iced tea and was insistent about it. I was equally insistent that it was only water. She got huffy and said the cashier/hostess would take care of it up front. Regardless, I left a $4 tip and was surprised that I was still charged $2 for our water. I did not dispute it further, but won't be returning anytime soon.
This was the first mom and pop place I ate in Barstow and it gave me a good impression. The food was good. It was kind of pricey but we bought a few different dishes to try. The atmosphere was nice and the decor was fun to look at. The service was satisfactory. I'd recommend it.
I haven't been there in 2 years, but when my husband and I lived in FORT IRWIN- we'd go there at least once a week. We didn't care if there was a military discount or not because the food was that darn good. Even now, I rave about their food to my family in Ohio and wish we had one here in the East. The service, for us, was excellent and is part of the reason we became repeat customers. At times it was slow but that was due to a typical Friday or Sat. night. If you're willing to treat your servers nice, you get the same kindness back. I would recommend it to anyone because I'd think you'd enjoy it all!!
