| About: | On Restaurant Row in Rancho Mirage, this determinedly British restaurant hearkens back to the dark-wood inns of English highways before the automobile. Waitresses dressed (more or less tastefully) as serving wenches bring out platters of beef ribs, salmon, roast lamb and prime rib, all reasonably priced. Eat in the pub, in the main dining room, or the Shakespearean Room decorated with scenes from Shakespeare's plays. Traditional English desserts finish the evening, with popular favorites including the English Rice Pudding and the Royal Brandy. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30 pm onwards. |

We decided to give Lord Fletcher's the benefit of the doubt despite the negative reviews we had read, So on Wed night 11/4/09, just as the "season" was beginning, we ignored warnings and arrived at a tired, passe' restaurant where we were informed by the waiter at 7:15PM that they were out of their house speciality, the prime rib, for the night, the very entree we desired. We had ignored another review that warned that they often run out of the prime rib!!?? Our bad, their stupidity!
Visited this place over the Memorial Day weekend. The prime rib was tough and the waiter we had was terrible. The rice pudding was just ok. Place used to be much better about 10 years ago or so when we first had dinner there.
Lord Fletcher's Restaurant: good food, always crowded in season, good service, some prices are a little high. Early bird is offered during the week.
