My Wife and I stumbled onto the SOBOBA while visiting her sick mother in Hemet, we did not go there looking for the casino.
It has nothing special going on; there is only one cafe, no buffet, but they do have a snack bar, and a bar that charges $2.25 for a Budwiser and a bunch more for a mix drink, nothing is comped at all.
The slots seem to pay better than the Moronga (all Morango employees gamble there)On the week ends they are packed to the hilt so don't visit Friday thru Monday night unless you like standing around all night.
The employees are polite unless you try to carry in a bottle of water or a cup or coffee, then they will get a very big attitude and make you throw it away.
I bought a burger with fries at their snack bar inside, went outside to get away from all the smoke they allow inside,I ate the burger but had to trash my fries before they would let me back in?
Don't wear a swetter with a hood for your head like my 67 year old wife did to cover the wind comming from the fan?? Yea she was told not to use the hood or leave, so she did!
If you can put up with some foolishness by their security gang, you will learn to really love the casino now you know all about their proclivities, we have been back six times during the week only and have a nice time.
They only have 2000 slots and 5,000 customers so don't go on the week end or during the day, this late night place only.
Totally Blue Collar catering to a lower income level and player level. The security personnel tend to think of themselves as the reincarnation of Wyatt Earp. My bride had a run in with three of them when she moved from one machine to another. While standing directly in front of her new machine, a fellow from south of the border ran up and attempted to snatch her machine. She informed him that she was playing this machine and the next thing we know, he has security harrassing her on an "assault" charge. The $8.00 per hour security people completely took the side of the perpetrator without listening to both sides of the story or checking with witnesses. Not worth the hassle, ang quite rude.
You could die of thirst waiting or a cocktail server to show up, and the food is second rate.
Morongo is only a few miles down the road and offers everything you could hope for in a Casino experience. Friendly staff, customers who conduct themselves as "gentlepeople", and great food. Plus, the machines pay better.
For a good time, my money is on Morongo.
Not worth the trip if you are coming from LA: I was heading to Morongo Casino on the 10 Fwy in Cabazon for the 2nd time in as many days, but saw the signs for Soboba Casino, exit Beaumount 1 mile south. It was more like 15 miles south, and multiple turns to get to the Casino. The casino was partially a tent structure, but you can't tell once you are inside. It was a full holiday weekend, but I was still able to play some slots. It was a lot smaller than Morongo. Everything in the place seemed very new. I would recommend this place if you were in the San Jacinto area, but I don't recommend the place if you were already heading towards Morongo. Nice casino, but not worth the drive vs. Morongo.
