Visited the winery over the weekend, you would be surprised by the vineyard view upon arriving at the parking lot. Wine varieties were impressive with almost more than 25 of different types of wine from blush to port. We loved the Muscat which is a sweet wine and bought a case home, but I think people with different taste would be able to find one they like with that many of choices. Free tour was another plus compare to other winery as other winery would charge a fee for that kind of service.
We also visited the restaurant called "Meritage"late evening, kind of a new concept for us to order Tapa style food but it went out well with their wine pairing suggestion. If you like the pork loin chop, you got to try one here,I rarely like pork loin chop anywhere except at the Korean BBQ, but their organic chop tasted the naural flavor and it was really tender on the texture insideout. Also loved their steak fries and fresh mussel, the chef said that the seafood was from a local vendor in Carlsbad and the restaurant actually send people over their to get seafood fresh out of the tank. The sun set view added another unforgettable dinning experience . I would say this is a must visit when you plan your trip to the wine country.
The wine is great with beautiful grounds. Check out the sunset view in the new restaraunt but, order wine and maybe fruit & bread appetizer. The food is real bad. I saw two people send food back. The "Chef" came around to the tables after dinner wearing a pair of Dickies and an old baseball cap and hadn't seen a razor in a while. Not impressed mostly because we spent over $100 for two of us. I seriously just wanted to expel the food :(
If you're hungry, go to Ponte's for excellent food. The wine & sunset view salvaged our evening.
Beautiful winery. Tasting room is exceptional (one of the nicest we've seen). Servers are great. View is phenomenal. Wine was very good. Prices a bit steep and not available in the retail stores.
This would be a five start, but the wines are a bit pricey and if we wanted to purchase a bottle on a whim, we couldn't (unless we're in Temecula during the hours the tasting room is open).
Definitely go to Callaway - a must if you're in Temecula
