If you don't like to get ripped off, don't take your car here. A few times that I went in for my paid maintanace program, I would end up with a new issue the same day or a few days later, they always claim it is a coincidence and that it is normal wear.
Well this last time I had a bad smeel coming into my car after I picked it up. I took it back and they said it was "normal wear and I needed my water pump and another item replaced at a a whopping $800 my cost:0
I took my car to another auto repair near by who checked it out to find out that BMW overfilled my coolant when giving me my oil change, they lied to me and told me it was the water pump leaking.
I am tired of these people who are out to rip people off. Thought you should know...
I will keep it brief. Bought a lease-return 740iL while still under warantee. Noticed right off it was consuming coolant. Took it to Irvine BMW and they performed $3,000 worth of work under warrantee but failed to fix the problem. When I took it back, they did another $3,000 worth of work that I had to pay for and guess what? Still not fixed and now out of warantee.
Kept adding coolant every week for months till the engine blew on a long road trip. No warning. Middle of nowhere, hear a "ding, ding, ding" looked down and the temp guage is pegged. Nursed it to the nearest station and by then it was running rough.
Towed it to Irvine and they charged $390 to tell me the engine was shot and there was nothing they were going to do to take any responsibility.
Took them to small claims and they failed to provide subpeonaed documents and testified that I "never" mentioned the car was consuming coolant! (I had told the service writer everytime I took it in).
Pulled a "CARFAX" report before court and found that the prior owner had reported "Coolant loss" at EVERY service since brand new! (Even though the car had not been bought at Irvine originally, they clearly had access to the cars history on their computer). They documented "coolant leaks" on the invoices even though I said "consumes coolant" everytime.
Court: zero help
Irvine BMW: less than zero help
New engine at independant shop: $15,000
Coolant use since: zero
chance of EVER buying a BMW again: You guessed it.
Just bought a brand new 650 from Crevier. We had the deal in the works at Irvine BMW. When I went to check edmunds.com invoice and MSRP, i found the Irvine was lying.
Irvine BMW was VERY aggressive in trying to sell this car. This being said they got the exact options I wanted in the car, to the dealership in 24 hrs, it just happened to have $4k+ in extra options (I actually think it was there the whole time and they just missed it in inventory but that is not important). They then said that they had to lease from the sticker price. At this point I told them it was getting late and that I would finish everything tomorrow. Signing no papers at Irvine BMW allowed me the freedom to get quotes from other BMW dealerships. With the same options (incld. the $4k+ extra options) the quotes all came back at more than $2,000 less on the sticker!
Having formed a relationship with a salesman at Irvine BMW I called him alerting him to the fact that their pricing was off, and to give him a chance to keep the sale. Within a few hours I had a call from a salesman at Crevier saying that not only could he beat Irvine BMWs $84,000 sticker price with his being marked at $82,450, but he could then bring it under $80,000. He did so and more!
After talking with Crevier and the very persistent salesman at Irvine BMW (called at least once an hour), I decided to go to Crevier and see if they had found the right car. They found it on the boat docks not even delivered yet. Next day it was at Crevier cleaned, and with exactly the options I wanted in the car with nothing I did not.
The deal was closed $78,450 on a 2008 650, Black Sapphire, Dark Birch Wood, Black Leather, and automatic. All other options incld. spt pkg, Prm snd pkg with Ipod interface etc... were all in this car.
Irvine went as far to say that we were lying about the deal we were getting and that it was not possible. I received 3 phone calls from Irvine BMW while signing papers for my new car. They said we were lying, that the deal was impossible, that they would be losing money. Let me tell you it was real! I spoke to 3 or 4 salespersons that had at one point worked at Irvine BMW and talked of their shady practices. I had Irvine BMW on the phone at the exact time I signed for the car. They could not believe what they just heard.
