I agree with the others that Russo's Pet Experience purchases their puppies from puppy mills. We rescued a pomeranian puppy that had been in the store for only one day. He ended up having Girardia, which humans can catch and is really bad stuff. At first we thought he had loose stools due to the change in diet and we proceeded to change him over to a complete grainless puppy food, Orijen. It worked long enough for the guarantee period to end. This ended up infecting my 3 other dogs. The puppy and one of my others had to go through 2 rounds of medication and the other 2 only had to take 1 round of meds.. The vet mentioned that Girardia is very common in puppies that come from puppy mills. I couldn't prove that he had Girardia when he first came home, it would have been nice to at least get reimbursed for all the medications and vet visits, not to mention the lab work as well. There is no way I would have given the puppy back. He is now 5 months old and we are still having problems house training and when he goes outside on his own he goes potty on the concrete, which leads me to believe he was in some type of kennel. He is the sweetest puppy and we love him very much. Please do your research on the breeder you choose to purchase your puppy from. Good breeders will often have you sign a contract to take good care of the puppy and guarantee their health for up to one year. Please research puppy mills and see the horrible conditions these poor dogs live in, it is horrible. Help stop puppy mills!
Bad place! Overpriced animals ($800 to well over $2,000) from puppy and kitten mills in the U.S. and Mexico. Staff can't be older than high-school age and dance around the question of where their animals come from. I saw several puppies that looked sick and a handful that were too young to be weaned away from their mothers. This is a sick owner trying to make major profit.
Call the Irvine realty company in California; they're the owners of Fashion Island shops. Let them know you want Russo's either out of the mall or to (preferably) stop selling live animals. Please adopt from a shelter (about 25% of their dogs are purebred) or at least from a reputable hobby breeder.
The dogs from Russo's are not AKC registered. The animals are issued "American Pet Registry" papers which essentially means the dogs are part of a "club" and lineage is not tracked. Don't understand why a potential dog owner would pay $800 - $2000 to Russo's for a "mutt" who does not have AKC papers when you can pay less through a local breeder.
This is the place where I found a slice of heaven, persian kitten who is undoubtedly the most beautiful creature I have encountered thus far. I've had him for 4 years and everyday I come home to an angel.
