Cafe Nouveau

Amazing food... great service. We went there on a whim, close to home but looked nice but casual.

OMG food was amazing... I had the Chicken Marsala, and it had to have been the best I have ever had... my husband had Jumbalia (sp?) he thought it was fantastic as well. I never got to taste it (that's how good it was).

The people at the table next to us had the Filet Mignon with Mango and it looked fabulous so I had to ask... and they both raved.

On this great summer evenings sit on the patio... romantic and comfortable!

We had been curious to try this highly recommended cafe. The place is really very cute and has a nice atmosphere and the patio is lovely. Too bad we went very early when the patio was practically empty and our server decided to sit us at the only table in the direct sun (super glare in my eyes) and directly next to the service cart. My dining partner didn't want to make a fuss, so we just switched seats. I would have preferred any other table. I guess we weren't their type of customer since nothing says " Don't come back" like being stored at the worst possible seat in the house.

The service was actually pretty prompt (the quicker to get rid of us?).
My daughter had a denver omlette, which she said was ok, yummy sauteed potatoes, weirdly sweet orange juice and bacon that didn't pass her strict muster. I had a chile relleno omlette which was decent until I reached the seeds. Yuck! A mouthful of nasty, inedible chile seeds which had to be spat out. At least the potatoes and coffee were ok.

My daughter says she won't be back. As for myself, I may give them another chance to live up to their atmospheric surroundings, but don't bet on it.

Cafe Nouveau is the best restaurant in Ventura hands down ... maybe even Ventura County! Anyone that knows me gets introduced to this place! If you haven't gone yet, go today! Breakfast, lunch, dinner ... I haven't had a meal that wasn't absolutely delicious!
